Anatomical bridles - Greater comfort for horses

Anatomical bridles are not only visually attractive, but also offer the highest standards of fit, comfort and functionality. Compared to classical bridles, Anatomically shaped bridles therefore offer several advantages for the horse, and also for the rider. The focus in the construction of the ergonomic bridles is based on the specific shape of the horse's head. The layout of all sensitive nerves, bones and tendons on the horse's head were taken into account when designing the positioning and padding of the headpiece, noseband, cheekpieces and chinstrap, resulting in the perfect fit for every horse.

Anatomical bridles for horses and ponies

Are anatomical bridles worth it? This question can best be answered by taking a closer look at the function and construction of the anatomical bridles without a flash and the anatomical bridles with a flash. The aim of this type of bridle is generally to prevent pressure points on the horse's sensitive head and thus to protect it. Bridles that are anatomically shaped, such as the Rambo Micklem from Horseware, were designed specifically for this purpose based on the anatomical shape of the horse's head. The anatomical bridle is designed to protect the sensitive nerves in the face, and the bones located close to the skin, such as the nose bone and the cheekbone, and to irritate them as little as possible. Although the various anatomical bridles differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, they are all designed according to this principle. A correctly buckled anatomical bridle is more comfortable for the horse, regardless of the manufacturer.

Function and structure of anatomical bridles

The noseband on anatomical bridles is designed in such a way that as few sensitive pressure points on the horse's head as possible are touched. It spares the facial arteries as much as possible and thus allows optimal blood circulation to the horse's head. The headpiece is softly padded. It is wider in the middle between the ears and narrows towards the ears. The anatomical headpiece ensures optimum pressure distribution and optimal wearing comfort, and is gentle on the neck ligament. The curved noseband is gentle on the highly sensitive main facial nerves and allows maximum reduction of pressure on the horse's fine nasal bones. Anatomical bridles without a flash strap are very popular but anatomical bridles with a flash strap are also shaped to allow the horse to breathe freely without constricting the nasal cavities. Another advantage of the anatomical bridle is the stable position of the bit in the horse's mouth. This leads to more comfort and refines the aids. Wide curved browbands also take pressure off the forehead and ears. Since most anatomical bridles offer a variety of adjustment possibilities, they can be optimally adapted to different types of horses.

Anatomical bridles for Icelandic horses and ponies

Whether simple or elegant, classic black or colourful, there is a suitable style for every Icelandic horse and for every taste. There is hardly any difference between anatomical bridles for Icelandic horses and those for large horses. Nevertheless, it is important to pay attention to the physical requirements of gaited horses. The heads of Icelandic horses are small, but often relatively broad. For this reason, anatomically shaped bridles are particularly suitable, as they offer a wide range of adjustment possibilities. The same applies to many pony breeds, small horses or thoroughbreds. Anatomical bridles for ponies and anatomical bridles for cobs offer the best possible adjustment possibilities for a wide variety of pony types and thoroughbred breeds.

Smart and stylish bridling with anatomical bridles for horses

The anatomical bridle shape is functional and offers the highest possible comfort, but that is not all. Top brands such as Horseware or Kavalkade demonstrate this. The anatomically curved shape of the Horseware Rambo Micklem ensures a uniform overall appearance. The sporty look combined with the finest leather and fashionable glitter browband makes the anatomical Micklem bridle truly eye-catching. The anatomically shaped Kavalkade bridles are another highlight. They shine with smart contrast stitching and elegant decorative stitching. In addition, many of the anatomical Kavalkade bridles are round-stitched, which means that the cheek pieces are connected to the noseband, relieving the pressure on the nerve pathways to the mouth. Anatomical bridles with sheepskin are also available for particularly sensitive horses. The fur is located at the nape of the neck, the bridge of the nose and near the cleft of the mouth, i.e. everywhere where pressure or friction points easily occur.

Anatomical bridles by Schockemöhle Sports

The name Schockemöhle is well known to most riders. The anatomical Schockemöhle Sports bridles are just as well known and of the same high quality as the horses from the Schockemöhle stable. They offer a high level of comfort for the horse and are made of the finest and environmentally friendly leather. The ergonomic cut of the noseband and the soft padding thus prevent pressure and chafing points. These bridles also make an impression visually - whether it is an anatomical bridle in brown with a sparkly browband like the Schockemöhle Sports anatomical bridle Equitus Beta, an ergonomic bridle with additional sheepskin padding, an anatomical bridle in patent or a white underlaid anatomical noseband - the anatomical bridles from Schockemöhle are available in a wide variety of designs and styles.

You will find anatomical bridles from top brands such as Horseware, Kavalkade, Schockemöhle and many more at Horze. And not only that, discover a large selection of stylish browbandsnosebands and reins to match your anatomical bridle.

A Micklem bridle is a snaffle bridle that was designed by William Micklem for the Horseware company. His aim was to take better account of the horse's anatomy. Due to its special cut, this snaffle avoids pressure on the particularly sensitive areas of the head. These are the neck, the nose bone, the upper and lower jaw, the tongue and the corner of the mouth as well as the facial nerves.

The Micklem bridle is available in two versions: "Multi Bridle" and "Competition". The "Multi Bridle" can be used with or without a bit. With the help of accessories, the "Multi Bridle" can also be used as a cavesson bridle. In addition, a supplementary mouth and tongue guard can be fitted. However, this is not possible with the "Competition" version, as it is not permitted for competitions. Used as a normal snaffle bridle, both versions are approved for all types of shows.

Many horses find the Micklem bridle more comfortable than the traditional versions. They are calmer and respond better to the rider's aids.
