The rug is made from a special extra-deep lightweight mesh fabric that helps block out flies and protects against sun bleaching. The extra deep sides of the rug help to keep flies away and also lets the air circulate around the horse's legs. The rug wraps around the horse’s belly, protecting this area from flies, and the three surcingles keep it in place.
